Last week my mom went to a farmers' market and brought home some peppers for me and my sisters. I went to grab one last night for dinner and had a true wtf moment:
It was bizarre on so many different levels.
Farmers' markets = Nascar?
Sweet bell peppers = Nascar?
Canada = Nascar?
I am confused. Nascar is car racing, right? When I think of Nascar, I think of fast cars and people sitting around in lawn chairs drinking beer and eating barbecued meat from the back of their pickup trucks. I don't think of fresh produce.
Am I missing something?

See, when I think of Nascar I absolutely think of Canadian Sweet Bell Peppers.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't think of produce when I think of NASCAR - definitely beers and burgers or something along the line.

ReplyDeleteThis is my reaction when I see things in cans that should NEVER be canned... lunchmeat and milk immediately come to mind. I mean, who was it that looked at milk and ham and thought, "you know what would go well with this? Aluminium!"
ReplyDeleteThe only connection I can think of between Nascar and bell peppers (work with me on this one) ... Nascar fans need a place to spit their DIP, right? So, they cut off the top, spit their dip into the pepper and put the top back on. Much more sightly than Gatorade bottles, where you can see the nastiness. No?
ReplyDeleteI probably would not buy them if I saw the Nascar bag. Nascar is everything that's wrong with America. Ok maybe not EVERYTHING. But who can honestly enjoy watching cars speed around in a circle??
ReplyDeleteYeah, someone thought they were having a moment of marketing genius, but alas, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI bet Jess would buy these. She is a total Nascar freak. Plus she loves to cook.
ReplyDeletefirst of all, when referring to NASCAR, please use all caps. it's an acronym.
ReplyDeletesecond of all, everyone knows that canadians love bell peppers and NASCAR. in that order. after hockey and molson ice. (also in that order)
who doesn't think canada when they hear Nascar? haha.
ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S where NASCAR is from! :)
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the Nascar head. (Please note, that in addition to carnivals, Nascar is another opportunity to see copious amounts of tube tops and dirty babies....uh, and not peppers. wtf.)
ReplyDeleteThe photo isn't loading for me. I feel like I am missing out...
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is the adult male equivalent of Disney branding of children's food?
ReplyDelete"Eat the sweet peppers hun, they're how Jeff Gordon got so big and strong!"
