But I Think It's About Forgiveness Forgiveness Even If Even If You Don't Love Me Anymore

Shawn's big show was supposed to be last weekend but the band had to cancel. It's not my story to tell (even though I really want to tell it) but I will say that I'm angry on his behalf. There has been some band drama (musicians. what the fuck.) and it resulted in the guitar player (having a tantrum and) leaving the band two days before an important and exciting show.

It's frustrating because I want to punch someone (guitar player!) in the ear and Shawn has already forgiven her. It's a flaw, this mama bear attitude of mine. It gets me into trouble. It riles me up and makes my cheeks flush and my voice growl and before you know it, I'm punching someone in the ear. Shawn's capacity to forgive amazes me.

So Shawn stayed home this weekend and brought me popsicles and got up to check the random night noises after I read too many murder mysteries (four in three days - such a bad plan) and tried not to laugh at my squeaky voice after my strep throat morphed into a full chest cold / laryngitis / death. It was a nice, relaxing weekend and even though I'm still angry at the situation that led up to him staying home, I'm grateful to have spent so much time with Shawn. Especially since he left this morning for four days in Toronto, leaving me with only the puppies to protect me from murderers (seriously - reading four mystery novels in three days has warped my brain. I am looking sideways at everyone, convinced that they want to cut off my face.)

  1. When I was sick last month I decided it would be a good time to watch some Hitchcock movies. The combo of fever and scary films (particularly The Birds) was a really bad way to go. I had nightmares that birds were pecking at my eyelids.

Also, the title of your post is a Don Henley song! My dad used to play this all the time when I was little. Just another reason I think your blog is the best :)

  2. I can't read murder mysteries for that very reason. That noise in the kitchen? Not that sink, but rather SOMEONE COMING TO KILL ME. Um...THROUGH THE FAUCET. Which is not typically the way someone dies in a murder mystery, but MAYBE.

(Have I already told you about the Percy Jackson series? Rick Riordan is the author and they are enormously fun reads. And they won't leave you worried about intruders in your house. Unless you typically worry about Greek gods coming through your faucet to send you to Hades.)

  3. Aww, feel better soon. I caught something nasty coming back and I feel like my throat's pretty much full of razorblades - where's my murder mystery? :) Also, being punch and mothery isn't a bad thing. I'm very much the same way (and D sounds very much like Shawn!)

  4. I took Kerri's advice to start the Percy Jackson series. DO IT.

I'd be the same way about the band thing - I want to protect the ones I love when they're hurt, which usually results in me wearing my Angry Eyes.

  6. It's hard to not want to be mad about a situation that wrongs your spouse. And I totally understand the whole idea that it gets to you more than it gets to them. Ugh.

  7. Ugh, what a bumout about fellow bandmate! Sorry to hear.

Also sorry to hear about your strep! Hope you are feeling better!

& books tend to make me feel like that too - ESPECIALLY if they are the mystery/thriller variety. Them and the show "Dateline"

  8. One of the things I really love about you is that you would punch someone in the ear for someone you love. It's a beautiful quality.

Thank goodness you have the puppies. You never know with the face-cutter-offers.

  9. My favorite author is Stephen King so I spend a lot of time going "OMG THAT NOISE IS A MONSTER AND IT'S GOING TO EAT ME!"

It's nice now that I can just make Vahid get up and check it out.

  10. Ugh, that guitarist drama is totally lame-sauce. What a bummer! -_-

Dude, I totally know what you mean. I'm so good at holding a grudge and staying angry. Eeee I should probably work on that. Just maybe.

I'm glad that Shawn took good care of you! That's so sweet he even checked on the random night noises! 100 percent sure John would go right back to sleep after I told him. Ha. I always tell him he's going to sleep through a robbery if it ever happens!

Hope the puppers are taking good care of you. And that your sickness says adios soon! xoxo

  12. Stella will *totally* take care of anyone who gets in your way! :)

I hope you're starting to feel better! <3

And I'm with you - taking the mama bear is a tough thing. Feeding her Popsicles sounds like a good start though! Mine seems to really respond to cake ;)

  13. You could always throat punch said guitar player yourself, knowing that Shawn has a tendancy towards forgiving easily ;) And maybe throat punch Lassie while you're at it.

    Feel better lovely.
