I'd Like To Paint A Picture For You

Friday Faff: DIY Edition

I have finished my painting project!

I ended up painting the two main walls light green and the fireplace olive green. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I love having colour on the walls but the green we chose is subtle enough to be considered neutral (which I don't care about right now but I might when we decide to sell. When we were condo-shopping, Shawn and I saw one place that had a navy blue bedroom and a dark maroon bedroom and another that had a mustard yellow / bright green colour scheme. We left both places immediately.)

I've got a lot of the olive green paint left so I'm tempted to paint the bathroom but laziness is winning out at this point. Maybe I'll do it in a few months. Maybe not. Who knows?

  2. I love your new colors! I remember once hearing that it's better to have neutral walls and use accents furniture to bring color into a room. Our living room was professionally painted a really pretty blue. The problem? Blue looks awful in light. It does. Everything reflects this blue color and well ick. Can't wait to repaint it soon!

  5. Ooooh, that makes such a huge difference. So much easier on the eye than the bright white. My apartment is this weird almost-olive-but-not-quite color that turns everything an awful shade of green when the sun is setting. It kinda looks like the apartment got sea-sick all the sudden. I'm too lazy to paint though, so I applaud you.

  8. This looks beautiful. The color is subtle, but I like it so much more than the white. Whenever I start out painting, I always get all ambitious and feel like I could paint five rooms. And then all the prep and clean-up takes so long that I'm just glad to be done.

  14. GORGEOUS! i have that same stark white wall thing going on (stupid rental!) and i'm about to email my landlord and ask if he'd mind if i repainted them ANYTHING - even cream, or super super light neutral brown - just ANYTHING that isn't dingy, stark, white...
