I saw I Love You, Man last night and I almost peed myself laughing. Paul Rudd + Jason Segel + Andy Samberg = pure comedy gold. There's one bit ("I slap the bass") that made me laugh so hard I thought I was going to vomit.
I wasn't even going to go last night because I'm not someone who usually enjoys movies (I know, right? Shawn is constantly quoting Dane Cook whenever I refuse to go see a movie, 'Who doesn't like movies? Who has ever said, "Hey, you wanna go see a movie?" "Fuck that and fuck your movies! It’s ridiculous, the whole idea of it! It’s just wrong and fake and no!"') I'm so glad I went though because I'm still laughing today.
Also, Jason Segel's character has a puggle and every time they showed it I would start laughing because it looked so much like Stella. Not as cute as Stella, of course, but still very similar.
Apart from the two vomit scenes and the Rush aspect (I'm sorry, Geddy Lee = annoying) it was probably the best movie I've seen in a while. Which isn't saying much, seeing as I don't even remember the last movie I saw in theatre. I think it was Marley & Me and I only went because Shawn's mom really wanted to see it and it was Christmas so I was feeling all charitable and shit.
Anyway. It's Monday. My brain is fried. That's all I've got.

I was all about seeing this movie on your recommendation until you got to the Rush part. So now I'll never see it, because if I have to sit through a movie that has Rush in it (in person or in song form) I'll leave the theater having murdered several innocent people. Rush makes me uber-stabby.
ReplyDelete"What's your dog's name?"
ReplyDelete"Anwar Sadat, you know after Anwar Sadat because he looks like him."
Actually, when I saw that cute pup the only thought that jumped in my mind was "Oh my God! He looks like Hillary's Stella!"
And yes, I absolutely loved that movie too!
Nick wants to see this movie, so I'm glad you hear you really enjoyed it. I also rarely, rarely want to see a movie. It makes people think there's something wrong with you, for sure. Who doesn't love movies? But I feel like, if I'm going to commit a couple hours of my life to sitting in the dark, I want to know it's going to be worth it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard so many good things about this (plus I've adored Paul Rudd ever since Clueless, and heart Jason Segal on HIMYM), that I'm very tempted to go see it in the theatre. I normally save my theatre-going for big blockbusters or action flicks or whatever, but I think I'm willing to dole out the bucks to see this one.
ReplyDeleteI love when you go to a movie with ZERO expectations and then it turns out to be AWESOME. This happened to me with "Hot Rod" which, I maintain, is one of the funniest movies ever. Like, get out the Depends funny.
ReplyDeleteI am not a big movies person (even though I love to quote them) but I really want to see this.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't planning on seeing this movie. But Paul Rudd is pretty, so you sold me with that alone.
ReplyDeleteWe never go to movies either, but this is one I want to go see.
ReplyDeleteI really want to see this film and it may or may not have to do with my minor crushes on Rudd and Siegel.
ReplyDeleteOkay it totally has to do with them. Glad you enjoyed it!
can't wait to see it!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't even explain how excited I am to see this!
ReplyDeletei can not wait to see that movie!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI knew I liked you off the bat. But, that whole movie thing? Yeah, me, too. We rarely go to the movies and rarely even watch them on DVD (we prefer to use Netflix for TV shows we haven't seen). Maybe I'll get Sweets off the couch this weekend to go see that movie - we've been *wanting* to see it!
ReplyDeleteI've debated that movie, but you sealed it, sounds like one I would love and I could use a few laughs right now.
