Destroy This City of Delusion

I have become one of those people.

I talk about my puppy and nothing else. I think about my puppy and nothing else. I can't even think of anything else to write about. I could write about how I've stopped doing my coursework - because my puppy is so cute. I could write about how I don't sleep anymore - because my puppy is so needy. I could write about how our condo is disgusting - because my puppy is a pee machine. Other than that? I got nothing.

During a 4am pee break this weekend, I was thinking about how having a puppy is like having a baby. Ok, so people who actually have babies are rolling their eyes and thinking "lady, you don't even know!" right now. Fair enough. I don't even know. If I ever have kids, I will look back at this and laugh at how naive I was, but for right now I feel as sleep-deprived as someone with a real baby. I shouldn't complain; Stella is getting better about sleeping through the night. Poor thing has a bladder infection right now so it's actually quite an accomplishment for her to hold it for 7 hours.

I can't believe I've resorted to writing about my puppy's pee habits. I am disgusted by how boring I've become. To make up for it, here are some pictures to show why I keep the pee machine around:

  1. Oh my goodness! Reading your post totally reminds myself of me 4 months ago! We got Beans (our now 7 month old beagle/plotthound/lab/otherstuff mix) in October and the first month was hell. Granted it was bring-you-to-tears-cute hell, it was still hell. The 3,4am walks, the constant barking for attention (you don't even know a bark until you've heard a beagle puppy's park,) the having no more social life. We literally had to cancel plans with all our friends for the next two month. hahaha

But, now Beans is 7 months old, he can hold his pee/poop for about 6 hours, we are starting to get back in the swing of going out (even though we feel AWEFUL when we leave him) and as long as he gets to run around enough during the day, the barking remains minimal. So yea, it gets better :) But really, i secretly miss those crazy puppy days because he was just so adorable and the craziness was always balanced out by the licks, cuddles, and generally amazing feeling that you get when you're together :)

    Hang in there! :)

  2. What a cutie-pa-tutie! Don't think of it as being "boring"---just focused :-)

Hey, you can write about puppy pee and still sound interesting and funny. No worries there.
