Lilac Wine I Feel Unsteady Like My Love

Every summer since before I was born, my family has spent a week in the Okanagan with two other families. The core group started when my dad was in university with his buddies and expanded as they got married and then had kids. Five years ago his buddy's kids started having kids, meaning the group has grown to 21 adults and 3 children. That's a lot of people in one cabin.

Happy hour is legendary during this week. I have so many good memories of the adults acting like complete and utter jackasses when I was still too young to realize that they were just hammered.

With all the drinking and the many wine glasses, one tends to forget which glass belongs to whom (who? Dammit, someone please explain who/whom to me.) We've tried different varieties of wine charms (the little trinkets you attach to your wine glass to identify it as yours) but that mainly led to confusion. After a few drinks, how can you be expected to remember if your charm is the martini glass or the champagne flute? Drinking should not involve thinking is what I'm saying.

The wine glass mix-up, combined with my hatred of other people's saliva, prompted me to make these:

Personalized wine charms! Colour-coded personalized wine charms. I cannot tell you how much I love these.

  3. i just learned this 4 minutes ago - if you can replace the word 'who' with 'him' and the sentance still makes sense, then you can use 'whom'. horray for grammar newsletters at work.... i knew it would pay off one day!

  4. Dammit, my comment got lost. LOL. Anyway, I totally love these. We have similar problems when we have large family gatherings, as they always involve the drinking of copious bottles of wine.

How did you make these? I'd love to steal your idea, and make these for my family members.

  7. love them! i made wine charms as xmas gift a few years ago - no names, but very different colors on the beads (eg one with all blacks, one with all purples, etc). i loved them so much it was hard to give them away.

  8. Those are awesome!

Whom = objective (me, us, them).
Who = subjective (I, we, they). (subjective = can be the subject of a sentence)

Or you could just follow that link. I'm sure Grammar Girl does a better job explaining it. :)

  9. You are adorable! Why didn't I come up with that idea? Seriously, so cute.

It's always funny thinking back on childhood and realizing how drunk your family really was. I thought they were just really fun people with really fun friends. Turned out they just really like beer!

I love being up in the Okanagan. My mom's side of the family is Canadian and most of them live in BC, including my cousins who live in Kelowna. LOVE.

We have the rubber, almost look like Livestrong bracelet ones that say things like 'slut', 'tease' and 'bedwetter'.

    Mature and awesome.

  16. And here I just make sure to leave some special frosted lipstick to mark my territory. This is much classier. They sort of remind me of baby braclets. You should market them toward children so they don't accidentally drink each other's whiskey. Cause ain't that 'bout a bitch?
