Juicy

Shawn bought me a fancy juicer for Mother's Day. I am in love with my fancy juicer. I know that juicing everything all the time is a bad plan but I am really enjoying my one daily juice (first person to tell me that juicing just concentrates calories / sugars and doesn't add anything to your diet gets a dickpunch.)

We juice everything. My current favourite is just a grapefruit / carrot combination but sometimes we go nuts and do 4, 5, 6-fruit(!) juice combos. Yeah, we're wild and crazy like that.

I've ordered some wheatgrass seeds so that I can grow and juice my own wheatgrass. Twenty-year old Hillary is so disappointed with thirty-year old Hillary (but to be fair, thirty-year old Hillary is pretty pissed with twenty-year old Hillary's questionable lifestyle choices that could have contributed to the bastard thyroid situation.)

Do you juice? What is your favourite combination? Do you masticate or are you all about the centrifugal? (Don't mind me, just a little juicer speak.) (Someone punch me, please.)

  1. My mom started juicing when she got cancer. It helped with keeping her blood cell counts up and she felt it helped keep her alive. She very much focused on carrot juice. She used all sorts of mixers but I believe she was partial to the centrifugal ones.

  2. Sorry - that should say juicers not mixers. I am still waking up here.

  3. I love seeing your juicing concoctions. I also love juicing. I have a Breville (?) and love putting kale, carrot, ginger, apple, lemon together or other combos similar. I'm also big on smoothies. It's a great way to "eat" more fruits and veggies!

  4. Wait, people say that about juicing? Because it seems to me that drinking an ASSLOAD of fresh fruit/vegetables would be a GREAT PLAN for getting easy & fast nutrients straight from the source. I will co-dickpunch anyone who has Helpful Comments on this.

  5. All about the centrifugal...so it doesn't heat up the nutrients while creating my juice. Juicing is awesome! My fave combo is spinach or kale with a couple apples, a couple carrots, and kiwi.

  6. While I don't own a juicer myself, I've been the lucky recipient of the juicing efforts of others (which... sounds weird, now that I re-read that). I've really, really enjoyed the various combinations I've tried, but I can't get behind kale. Like, at all. I've tried and tried and I just... no. I'm a kale failure. A kailure.

  7. I've actually heard that having fresh veggie/fruit juices can actually be healthy especially during cancer. So yeah take that to the people who say it just concentrates sugars. I have a very crappy juicer that I got for free from work that I use sparingly. I'd love to have a decent one so I can get behind it more. Right now I love going to a juice shop in Portland having their mixes. They have some great combos. Yum!

  9. I am a vitamixer...didn't really do any research but I love throwing in cups of spinach, a handful of frozen berries, some oranges and maybe a banana and basically get my kids to drink their daily intake for the day. So good.
