Can It Be The Way It Was

A friend of mine (a very good friend) (a very generous and kind friend) works for a record label and occasionally has tickets to shows that she can't use for whatever reason.

Which is how I ended up in the third row, beside the stage, at the Killers show tonight.

The show was fantastic; the band seemed to genuinely be enjoying themselves and they performed enthusiastically with huge smiles on their faces.

Tonight's show definitely made it into my list of top 5 shows (rounded out by the following, in no particular order: Willie Nelson with my dad; floor at Muse; Wolfmother in a teensy club before they made it big in North America; and every David Usher show, ever.)

  2. My top 5 shows include the White Stripes at Red Rocks, the Tragically Hip (opened by Sam Roberts Band) at the Gothic in Denver, Sublime/No Doubt at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma before either band was known outside of California, the Railroad Revival Tour (Old Crow Medicine Show, Edward Sharpe & the Magenetic Zeros, and Mumford & Sons) in Oakland, and the Flobots (a Denver band) also at the Gothic in Denver.

Sounds like you had a great time at the show!

  3. I would have loved to see the killers. They are actually playing Portland soon, but it's sold out. I didn't know they were coming until after the fact. But it sounds like you have an awesome time! One of my favorite shows was The Pretty Reckless, it was also my first show in Portland which made it even more memorable.

  4. I was HUUUUUGE into the North Van Punk Rock scene when I was a teenager, most of my favourites were shows from that era, but seeing Taking Back Sunday at the Commodore was also amaaaaazing.
