If My Team Loses I'll Be Mean All Night If You Tell Me To Relax We'll Get In A Fight

I promise I will stop bitching about Shawn's motorcycle ... soon. I'm sure we'll find our way to a compromise. For now, though, we're stuck in knowing that our own position is completely valid and reasonable, and knowing that each other's position is just as valid and reasonable, and not knowing where to go from there. Thank you for your comments on yesterday's post; it is helpful for me to hear that people can die from boring, everyday-type activities and not just risky activities. I tend to forget that in all my fretting about reckless drivers.

Tonight is the Canucks season opener and words cannot express my excitement. I'll be watching the game at the 2 Parrots (which provides a prime hockey-viewing environment.) Puck drops in 6 hours. Gongshow to promptly follow.

To round out this post of randomness, I want to know what brand / type of mascara you wear. I am in the market for a new supermarket (read: cheap-ish) mascara and am overwhelmed by all the choices. The last one I tried was Covergirl Lash Blast and I found it very clumpy.

  1. Avons 99 cent mascara is fantastic!

  2. I absolutely love the classic "Great Lash" by Maybeline. It still comes in the pink tube with bright green top, and it's still dirt cheap. Love it!

Good luck with the whole motorcycle thing. My dad has ridden a motorcycle most of his life, even raced them for 20+ years, and he is still alive. You just have to be smart about it and be a completely defensive driver. And it is really, REALLY fun to ride on the back when the person who's driving knows what they're doing...

  3. My last expensive purchase before moving out of home was a Chanel mascara. At $52 SGD, it was a steal. Not so much at $52 AUD. I bought it anyway. I'm stupid (and vain) like that.
In my defence, it's the only time I've ever bought something from one of those sorts of designer labels. And it is a fantastic mascara.

  4. I use Clinique's mascara. Once or twice a year I get in on Clinique's Bonus Time and pay like $21 or so to get a slew of Clinique makeup, including mascara, lipstick, moisturizer, blush, etc. I've never used any other brand - I'm one of those people who will find something that works and then sticks with it. Forever. Until I DIE.

  5. I siwtch up between Cover Girl's Lash Blast and Lash Exact (purple tube). If you want to spend come cash though, you can't beat Lancome.

  7. I use Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express. http://maybelline.com/Product/Eye/Mascara/the-colossal-volum-express.htm

It's like fake lashes in tube. I have stubby small lashes and I get compliments daily from strangers about my eyelashes. Amazing, amazing stuff.

In other news, I was thinking about you Sunday. My Jason rides a motorcycle and also does dirtbiking in the woods. It's his Sunday tradition with his friends. Take this with you to bed tonight as a nuggett of comfort - Shawn rides on a paved, maintained road. Jason dirt bikes through the woods, on ledges and over tree stumps and slippery rocks and mud holes and omg I have to stop-- I'm getting panicky describing it. Not only is it supremely dangerous, there is also an element of "redneck" to it. I think it's stupid and it puts a strain on our relationship.

So my point of telling you all this is that because of the dirtbiking activities that happen each Sunday, I honestly don't even worry so much about him on his street bike anymore because in perspective, a paved, state-maintained road is SO much safer than the fucking woods in Western Pennsylvania.

Sorry this comment was so long. I just want you to know I empathize with you completely.

  9. I'm not going to be any help in the mascara department mainly because I tend to get a bit pricey ones (because they work oh so good and last a long time).

I'm going to keep say this: Shawn is going to be OK. Hope thing work out with you two super soon.

  10. I'm another old-school maybelline girl! I've tried more expensive ans fancier ones, but always come back to the pink & green. waaaay cheaper and works just as well (if not better) - and lasts longer. the expensive ones turn all clumpy for me after like a month.

  11. I use Revlon Fabulash. It's alright, but not the greatest. I always see CoverGirl mascara in top 10 lists ... I tried it (in the pink and green case) and hated it. Not sure what I'm missing, but there you have it.

  13. Is Lash Blast the one in the orange tube? I thought that one was awful. I don't know the name, but it's a L'Oreal mascara in a gold tube. I quite like it. My fave is Lancome but I just don't feel like it's worth that much more, so rarely justify buying it.

  14. I've tried all mascaras and always end up going back to Maybelline Great Lash (pink &green) as it works the best.

  15. Rimmel is the best. Tiny brush, no clumps. Pretty pink & black tube. Yay.

  16. I second the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express. It smells kinda wierd right after you put it on, but it works like a mother frickin' charm. I used the pink/green tube of Maybelline for YEARS before and it was ok, but nowhere near the volume for my nearly-bare eyelashical area. You can see a pic of the magic on my blog, scroll down to the wedding pics!
