Stuck

It was the first thing I said when I met them. I'm terrified of needles. They were about to put multiple needles in my neck. We needed to be on the same page.

They were so kind to me. Reassuring and pleasant, they went about their task with quiet efficiency. They explained every step but refrained from doing so graphically. They patted my shoulder when I let out an involuntary cry at the first needle.

The entire procedure - all four needles - took under ten minutes. The anticipation was worse than the actual event (though the waiting for results is proving to be as much as a struggle as the anticipation.)

The good news is that we're on our way to figuring out what's wrong with my wonky thyroid. The bad news is that Dr. Google has scared the everloving crap out of me.

Now we wait. We should have some answers within two weeks. But for now, I'm stuck.

  2. The waiting is the hardest part. I learned that the hard way during my cancer summer. I was SO scared of the surgeries and going under that first time but I learned to face the fear and brace myself for the waiting. I don't envy you this wait. It IS the worst. I hope they can find answers for you! Having a plan of action can alleviate the fear. Hang in there.

    1. Hey, I was just about to put what Sizzle put for her first line. Damn, she beat me to it! Hang in there - I know the next couple weeks will be hard, but stay away from the Internet searches as much as you can ... they won't alleviate any of your fears ... if anything, those pesky searches will just add more things to worry about (hopefully unnecessarily).

  6. Stay away from Dr. Google! Doesn't have the proper MD certification or training.

Waiting is awful. What I found that sort of helped when I did my biopsy was to take it all one day at a time. Don't think about tomorrow or next week, just today.

Hoping and praying all is well and that they fix whatever is going on with your thyroid. Hugs lady.
