So Why Must You Always Dress In Black?

I have spent the last few days wrapped up in my own head, drafting ridiculous, long-winded, woeful posts about I'm not sure what exactly. I'm gloomy. I feel ... grey.

And then this morning I read Kyla's post about six months + six dresses (when math involves dresses it is math I can wrap my head around) and a tiny smile crept into my heart. It's a bit silly, I know, to be cheered up by material things but the thought of swirling skirts and colourful tights and feeling like a lady brings me joy. It reminds me of my last day in England when my two dear friends took me out for a proper cream tea. Never mind that we spent the afternoon taking inappropriate pictures with the (blatantly phallic) manicured hedges in the garden of the tea house, for a brief moment we were three ladies, tarted up in our dresses, enjoying an afternoon tea.

Will you be playing along?

  1. I just read that post! And while I won't be playing along (thanks to purchasing too many dresses for our beach vacation), I most certainly will be following your journey!

  2. You know, I'm actually quite a big fan of grey...

With a POP of color, it can be the ultimate in fun AND sophisticated. :-)

  3. I haven't read the post but I find comfort in wearing lovely dresses and skirts too. Recently it's just about got warm enough that I can break them out - I have a lovely a-line skirt I wore this week with a little yellow cardigan and it reminded me of... well I shouldn't say "reminded" if I wasn't ALIVE then, but of older times, you know? When people opened doors for other people and girls were more modest and that was considered attractive. I have a grey pinafore I've been wearing recently too with tights and Mary Janes and it does the same sort of thing :)

  7. Cute idea! T would kill me if I bought 6 dresses, but I'll be playing along in spirit. :) Hope the sunshine this weekend helps with the smiling a little bit more!

  8. I was just thinking the other day that I am in serious need of new dresses. I had to give a bunch away because they didn't fit anymore, so it's time to go shopping!

  9. I love summer dresses. I work VERY hard at trying to wear one every day, though I'm normally a black suit-ish type of girl normally.
I love feeling girly. My favourite dress is actually a black-ish one from Betsey Johnson that makes me feel like the prettiest person on the planet (you'll see it often in my wedding albums on facebook, ha!).
and I LOVE LOVE LOVED cream tea in England. I want it here :)
Get a dress. I can't wait for a tad bit more sunshine to start buying and wearing more myself :)
